Mastering Cricket: Essential Batting Techniques for Aspiring Cricketers

Every cricketer dreams of becoming a top batsmen. If this is your dream too then you must follow some tips and techniques to become expert in this sport. The three integral part of cricket include batting, bowling and fielding. Here are various techniques that will make you a great batsman that you learn at SRNCC which is also the best cricket academy for fast bowlers (if you want to become an all-rounder).

1)      Standing sideways- You should hold your bat and stand facing the bowler with feet shoulder width apart. Keep your back straight and bend your body with your hips. When you are ready with your bat point your non-dominant shoulder towards the bowler and keep your eyes on the ball. Your shoulders should be up and at eye level always. If you are a right handed person you will stand on the left side of the stump and if you are a left handed person you stand on the right side of the stump.

2)      Holding the bat-Always hold your bat tightly. If you are a right handed person, your left hand should hold the end which faces the bowler and your right hand should be placed on the top of your left hand and hold the bat with two fingers and thumb. The thumb and forefingers should be in a good position and grip should be tight. The opposite stands true for a left -handed person.

3)      Distance between bat and stump- make a line from the middle wicket to your field. It will help you know where your wicket is while batting. Make this line using the end of your bat and make sure that the line is parallel to the middle wicket. The line so made is called the guard line.

4)      Tap the bat on the ground line- tapping on the guard line signals the bowler that you are ready to bat.  Make sure to not hit the ground too hard.

5)      Swing backward momentum- when the bowler throws the ball towards you and you have to hit it, keep your lead leg forward and swing your bat back for speed. When lifting your bat, it should point directly into the air and come up till your back shoulder.

6)      Eyes on the ball- always keep an eye on the ball, if you follow until the ball is pitched, you can figure out the stance you need to take to hit the ball. Think of the shot that will be the best to hit the ball as soon as the ball is coming towards you.
